Intentional Disciple Making

Every church needs an intentional disciple making system.

The United Methodist Church’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Even though disciple making is at the heart of the church’s mission, most of our congregations don’t know how to intentionally do this. In fact, many of them struggle to even define what a disciple is. Yet, disciple making is the heart of Jesus’ Great Commission, the core of what we’re about.

As Paul speaks to his companion and protegee, Timothy, in 2 Timothy 2:2, he describes disciple making to the fourth generation—the disciple Paul, passing on the faith to Timothy, who passes it on to reliable people, who go on to teach it to others.

Does your church have a desire for third and fourth-generation disciple making, that ultimately embeds a culture of disciple making within the congregation? If so, Church Development —partnering with Leadership Development—is prepared to help.
