William “Ted” Murphy

WILLIAM “TED” MURPHY, 95, of Franklin, IN, retired elder, passed away on 2월 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his three children, William D. Murphy of Greenfield, IN, Charles R. (Elizabeth) Murphy of New Albany, IN, and Carol A. (David) Thorne of Fishers, IN; eight grandchildren, Laura (Jonathan Harvey) Koenig of North Chesterfield, VA, Ryan Murphy of Newport Beach, CA, Kate (Jeffrey) Mazelin of Winter Garden, FL, Mark (Katie) Koenig of Carmel, IN, Amy (Bill) Grover of Floyds Knobs, IN, Anne (Steven) Cannon of Crestwood, KY, Christina Koenig of Noblesville, IN, and Adam Thorne of Fishers; and eight great-grandchildren, Jonah Harvey, Allison and Owen Koenig, Wyatt, Cooper, and Samuel Mazelin, Victoria Grover, and Colton Cannon.  

Visitation will be held on 2월 9 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Swartz Family Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton Street, Franklin, IN, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Adams Drive, Franklin, IN, with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m., which will be live-streamed here

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in “Dr. William T. Murphy’s memory” to Johnson County Senior Services, 36 Tracy Road, Whiteland, IN 46184.

Ted served Bedford Erie UMC (1946-1952), Bedford Grace UMC (1954-1959), Linton First UMC (1959-1964), DePauw Memorial UMC (1964-1970), the Indianapolis Southeast District as District Superintendent (1970-1975), Memorial UMC (1975-1981), and Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community (1981-1996).
