Zionsville United Methodist Church is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position, Director of Worship, Music, and Arts Ministries. This role will manage and provide leadership for traditional and contemporary worship teams, the technical team, and lead creation of worship art and design.

Role Overview:

The desired candidate will have the ability to skillfully lead in corporate worship with voice and instrument, and an aptitude for creative arts in a worship setting. You must also understand, and have a working knowledge of music theory, instrumental/band dynamics, voice blending and arrangement, and traditional and contemporary worship methods. The ability to recruit, train, and work with other musicians and volunteers is required. A base level understanding of the technical support needed for worship production is needed to support and lead the technical team.

The Director of Worship, Music & Arts will create, direct, and manage all aspects of worship and musical performance in collaboration with the Pastoral staff and Worship Team. In this role, you are responsible for implementing worship that reflects the vision, mission, values, and growth strategy of Zionsville UMC.

Skills and Qualifications:

·       A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a worship leadership role.

·       A commitment to growth in your professional skill, faith life, and spiritual journey.

·       A deep understanding of worship theology and the ability to incorporate theology in leading and teaching the worship team and congregation.

·       Ability to work closely and collaboratively with Lead Pastor, Pastoral staff, worship support staff and volunteers.

·       Strong vocal and musical skills, including proficiency on piano and/or guitar, the ability to read band charts, experience with (or desire/aptitude to learn) worship planning software, experience with (or desire/aptitude to learn) Multi-Tracks band integration.

·       Enthusiastic and relatable presence for leading worship.

·       Ability to train and nurture other musicians.

·       Excellent communication skills, from the stage, verbal and written.

·       Respect for all styles and genres of worship music; ability to blend new and old styles.

·       Ability to relate well with all worship stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

·       Provide leadership and vision for worship services that align with the overall vision, mission, values, and strategic goals of ZUMC.

·       Collaborate with other pastors and ministry leaders to ensure worship service content, and the team’s execution, aligns with overall vision, mission, values, and strategic goals of ZUMC.

·       Coordinate with the pastors and ministry leaders to create well-planned and engaging worship services.

·       Create, implement, and manage worship services, including music selection, service flows, and technical support (audio, video, lighting, and staging) that align with the overall vision, mission, values, and strategic goals of ZUMC.

·       Train and develop worship team members to understand the heart of worship, to become true worshippers and to continuously grow toward leading worship authentically and effectively.

·       Create synergies for developing joint contemporary-traditional worship services.

·       Lead Sunday worship service and oversee the worship team (vocalists and instrumentalists). This includes preparation for and leading rehearsals.

·       Manage the worship team’s schedule, rehearsals, and performances in a way that honors volunteers, provides ample lead time and clear instruction of expectations, allowing them to arrive musically and spiritually prepared to lead

·       Foster a culture of excellence in music and worship within ZUMC.

·       Ensure that all worship services (including song selection, choir integration, liturgy, and creative aspects) are accessible, engaging, and inclusive for all attendees.

·       Administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of ZUMC.

·       Manage the selection and maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.

·       Provide pastoral care to worship team members and congregation members as needed.

·       Attend weekly worship planning and staff meetings.
