Early Years Ministry

Our mission is to welcome all children from birth to 5 years old, and their families, into loving, Christ-centered relationships where they will experience and share God’s love. We have the honor of being young children’s first impression of the community of faith; this means we also have the responsibility to keep them safe, help them to know God, and let them know that they belong. We also hope to empower parents to have confidence in leading their child on their faith journey, as well as offer support with their Christian parenting.

Position Overview

The goal of the Early Years Ministry Internship is for students to apply knowledge attained through their college coursework/instruction and experience with young children to provide Christian programming to young children for 10 weeks. The intern will further develop their knowledge and skills in preparation for a future career in early childhood education or ministry. With the guidance of Early Years Ministry staff, the Early Years Ministry Intern will use and hone their skills, gifts, creativity, and passion while leading young children in learning about God’s love and the community of faith. They will learn many aspects of creating and implementing programming and events for children.


  • Create, work toward, and evaluate personal leadership goals, checking in regularly with the Director of Early Years, as well as weekly with the Intern Program Coordinator
  • Assist in Sunday operations, including planning and teaching alongside Early Years staff in various age groups from birth to PreK/JrK
  • Develop & implement engaging curriculum and programming for a variety of age groups
  • Work with the Children’s Ministry Special Needs Coordinator to understand best practices for children with special considerations
  • Use organizational skills for acquiring and managing resources for programming and events
  • Use administrative skills in order to assist with a variety of tasks such as creating/updating registration forms and information, crafting creative newsletters and other communications/publications, and data entry
  • Attend Early Years team meetings, weekly Staff Chapel meetings, and other relevant meetings
  • Hold regular office hours


  •  Assist with preparation and implementation of our week-long Vacation Bible School for the Early Years ages
  • Create and implement at least one unique Early Years family gathering opportunity that encourages connection & community
  • Take the lead in at least 3 Preschool Small Group and 3 Large Group sessions


  • Some college preferred
  • Love for and experience with young children (birth through 5 years) • Spiritually maturing Christian • Caring and positive attitude
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented • Interest in a career in education or ministry
  • Successful completion of a background check
  •  Must be dependable and have a high degree of integrity
