This course focuses on the ministry of the Lay Servant who either regularly or occasionally leads a group, class, organization, or the congregation in worship.  The course is grounded in the classic patterns of Christian worship and the practices of leading worship.  Upon completion of this course the student should be able to identify the Basic Pattern of Worship and describe its history.  They should be able to offer supportive feedback on planning and leading worship.  Participants will explore and practice leading worship in a variety of settings, and alternative patterns of worship. Are you curious, concerned, or confused about what White Christian Nationalism is? Join Dr. Drew Strait in an interactive lecture and facilitated discussion. Dr. Strait will unpack definitions of White Christian Nationalism. He will also explain why it presents an immediate threat to democracy and the church’s public witness. Q&A along with suggestions for how Christians can faithfully love God and neighbor during this time of polarization and growing violent extremism will follow the Forum. Drew J. Strait is a professor of New Testament and a pastor theologian at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN. His scholarly work focuses on political idolatry and how congregations can challenge violent extremism and polarization.
