Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright (West)

Conference Assistant

Heather Hilbert

Heather Hilbert is a born & bred Hoosier, growing up on the north side of Indianapolis and attending Indiana University, Bloomington. Not growing up attending church, she came to faith as a 20-something when she began her family. Before long, church was the place Heather felt most herself. Thanks to a sincere UMC pastor who never shied away from Heather’s questions about faith and Jesus, she committed herself to the United Methodist Church and raising her kids in the local church.

She has served on administrative councils, led lay teams, worked on UMC local church staff and now brings her skills & passions to Indiana Conference staff.

Being unchurched until adulthood, she has a particular passion around hospitality and missions in the church, striving to make sure everyone she encounters feels seen, known & loved. When she’s not busy with her family, you can find her cozying up with a good book, studying the Enneagram, or volunteering in the community for a passion project.

Associate District Superintendent

Dirk Caldwell

Dirk was born and bred in the West District of the Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, having grown up at Trinity United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville, IN. He attended Wabash College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Psychology. In 1995 he married his high school sweetheart, Cathy. They have been married for 27 years.

Dirk began full-time ministry as the Director of Lay and Youth Ministries at Avon United Methodist Church. While he served in Avon, he explored his call to ministry with Pastor Karen Devaisher, attended License to Preach School, and then entered Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis in 2006. In 2009, he earned his Master of Divinity (cum laude), was commissioned into Provisional Membership and was appointed to Jacobs Chapel UMC in New Albany, IN. Three years later, in 2012, he was ordained as an Elder in full connection. He superseded to active-duty chaplaincy in the United States Navy and immediately reported to Naval Support Activity, Naples Italy. In 2015 he was assigned as the command chaplain on board USS NEW YORK (LPD 21) and deployed to the southern Mediterranean. In 2018 he received orders to report to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune where he served as the battalion chaplain alongside the Warlords of 2/2, deploying to Norway and then Headquarters Battalion before transitioning to the United States Navy Reserve and returning to Crawfordsville IN. Upon returning in 2019, he was appointed to Crawfordsville Christ’s UMC and Darlington UMC – both in the West District. In 2021, he was activated to an Active-Duty status and made an 11-month deployment on board USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68). Now back home from the deployment, he has started work on his Doctorate of Ministry in Military Chaplaincy and plans to graduate in 2024.

Dirk has three children. A set of fraternal twins are 21. Cadin is a Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corps and Cambria will be a senior at Franklin College. His youngest daughter, Sullivan (“Sully”) will be a freshman at Franklin College. In his spare time, he and his two dogs sift through the weeds in his garden looking for tomatoes, green beans, and okra.

Conference Superintendent - West District & Central District

Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright (West)

Rev. Dr. Aleze M. Fulbright is an ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church. She is a person of conviction in living a personal mission to encourage, equip, and empower all people to live on purpose and live out their God-givenness. Dr. Aleze’s greatest joy in life is her son, Myron Fisher Jr., who is a middle school math educator and basketball coach in Wichita, Kansas. Additionally, she enjoys fellowshipping with family and friends, while also connecting with the community through her civic and sorority involvement. Another joy is serving alongside the laity and clergy around the West District, where we strive to be Christ-Centered, Community-Connected, and Missionally-Centric.
