Host churches please plan our worship time – be creative. Call people together for worship; sing a couple of songs (hosts choose the music); and lead us in prayer (thank you for including prayers for concerns of our world). Please be ready to start on time and limit the worship time to 15 minutes.
Because you will have made your decisions prior to Charge Conference and those decisions are reflected in the reports you will have already provided online, we will not sift through each report. We will give time and attention to:
affirming the leadership rosters from each congregation,
celebrating candidates for ministry and have them share,
recognizing all who will continue in lay servant ministry with their completed report.
After those matters are addressed, we will have a “covering motion” to affirm the other items (if they are properly submitted online beforehand).
Pastors and Lay Leaders, there will need to be a presentation to include the pastor and a lay person (who is not the pastor’s spouse) around these four questions:
In 2018-2019, how has this congregation responded to God’s call to be disciples of Jesus Christ?
In 2018-2019, where do you feel this congregation has demonstrated being the Church, the heartbeat of Christ?
In 2018-2019, please share how this congregation has connected to your local community (and who have been your community partners)?
In 2019-2020, what big dream(s) does your congregation have in being missional?
Location in the building: The decision for refreshments resides with each host congregation, it is not a requirement. We will need to have adequate space that fit the group’s size; be accommodating for worship and prayer; AND have video and sound capabilities (or at least a wall/screen for projection).
Additional Information Regarding Charge Conference Presentations
When making your charge conference presentations, please feel free to be creative in your work. Many of you have asked if it is okay to include pictures or have additional presenters outside of the required number; this is certainly acceptable. While we want to be cognizant of everyone’s time, using creativity to exemplify your ministries is certainly welcome. If you have further questions please contact Conference Assistant Greg O’Connor at email@example.com or 317-924-4140
