Birth Notice (or Family Growth) Policy
The Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church values the lives and ministries of all who serve in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and believes in celebrating the gift of new life. Therefore, the Indiana Conference will use the following guidelines in sharing news around the birth of children of our clergy and lay staff.
For all active clergy members, the Indiana Conference will share to the conference via email as well as the website in the event of the following:
- Child* is born (adopted/granted guardianship) to an active clergy member
Conference Lay Staff
For all conference lay staff, the Indiana Conference will share to the conference via email as well as the website in the event of the following:
- Child* is born (adopted/granted guardianship) to a current conference lay staff member
*Birth notices will be sent out to celebrate the birth of a child of an active clergy member or lay staff person. This excludes grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and children outside of the immediate family.
Birth notices are sent out as they are received. Clergy and lay staff may opt-out of having official notices sent or photographs posted online by notifying the Communications Director, District Assistants, or District Superintendents. All birth notices will be submitted via the Conference Website.
