General Conference Volunteer Feature: Amy Cox

Amy Cox, Director of Music and Fun at South Bend Clay UMC, attended the 2016 General Conference in Portland as an observer. “I ended up pulling out my guitar for an impromptu performance at a restaurant for the Virginia delegation,” she recalled.

This year, at the 2020 Postponed General Conference, she is playing a lunchtime concert for all of the delegates. In 2020, a call was put out for UMC performing groups and artists to volunteer to share their gifts during worship and lunchtime concerts. Amy applied and was invited. That invitation held over through the postponements to 2024.

“The delegates who have gathered here in Charlotte are doing the hard work of praying, listening, and decision-making. I’m thankful for the opportunity to offer a time of encouragement through music and stories,” Amy said.

Amy will be playing original music from her newly-released album Anchor. “It’s a collection of songs that speaks to the moving of the Spirit and wrestling with faith,” she said.

Anchor is available on all streaming platforms. For more information about Amy’s music, visit amycoxmusic.com.
