ROBERTA SMITH DARE of Elwood, Ind. and formerly of Mishawaka, 81, mother of the Rev. Christopher Dare, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Elwood in the North Central District, died Sunday, March 9, 2014. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at the Copher Fesler May Funeral Home, 415 S. Anderson Street in Elwood. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. the same day at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Becker officiating. A second service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 1415 North Main Street in Mishawaka Friday, March 14, with Rev. Mark Zerkel officiating and will include a visitation at noon one hour of prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Survivors include: her husband of more than 62 years, Glennard U. “Jerry” Dare; daughter, Cynthia White of Orlando; sons, the Rev. Christopher (Rhonda) Dare of Elwood, Shannon (Becky) Dare of Cedar Park, Texas, and Tim (Karen) Dare of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
