GEORGE W. DINWIDDIE of LaGrange, Ind., 102, oldest retired Elder of the Indiana Conference, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 2 at the Carney-Frost Funeral Home, 603 S. Detroit Street in LaGrange. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3 at the First United Methodist Church, 100 West Cossitt Avenue in LaGrange with the Rev. Chris Danielson officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond, Ind. Condolences can be sent to his son, Mike Dinwiddie & Family, 527 Maple Ridge, LaGrange, IN 46761. Dinwiddie was accepted “On Trial (Methodist Church)” in 1939 and became an Elder in the former North Indiana Conference in 1951. He served as a USAF Chaplain during World War 2 and served churches in Indiana at Ellensburg, Action/London, New Palestine, Evansville Old North, Osgood, Branch and Shipshewana/Scott before retiring in 1976.
