CHESTER OWENS of Indianapolis, 82, father of the Rev. David Mark Owens, chaplain of Johnson Memorial Hospital and Franklin UM Community, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Celebration services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Southport Presbyterian Church, 7525 McFarland Boulevard, Indianapolis with visitation at the church from 3 to 6 p.m. A second celebration service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2107 South Park Avenue (State Road 9) with visitation at the church from noon to 3 p.m. Private family graveside services will follow. Survivors include: wife, Rebecca (Cattron) Owens; three children, Michael (Connie) Owens, Alexandria, the Rev. David Mark (Sherrie) Owens, Greenwood, Elizabeth Owens, Indianapolis; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Men’s Ministry of Southport Presbyterian Church or the Alexandria Food Pantry, with envelopes available at all visitations and services.
