MARY ALICE BURGESS GARBODEN HISE, of Franklin, Ind., 88, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson Street in Franklin. She was the wife of Don C. Garboden and Paul H. Hise, both deceased. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Inurnment will at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at Whitewater Cemetery in Richmond, Ind. She was a faculty member at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and Indiana University Southeast and was a retired associate professor emeritus at Indiana University. She was a global volunteer with her husband, Paul Hise, in Indonesia, China, Mexico and Hawaii, and was a Christian missionary teacher in Thailand from 1965 to 1966. Survivors include: a stepdaughter, Janise Hise (David) Geary; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W.
