Young, Loman

LOMAN YOUNG of Loveland, Colo., 98, father of Indiana Conference Elder the Rev. John A. Young, died Friday, October 7. Loman and his wife Enid were active members of St. Matthew in Frankfort and Trinity in Hartford City before moving to Colorado. Loman supervised the construction of the Young Community Center in Nome, Alaska and Red Bird Mission School in Beverly, Kentucky for the Women’s Division of the Board of Global Ministries. Loman and Enid participated in many mission workteams with the University of Indianapolis, Kairos Carpenters, and numerous others in Africa, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and all over the United States. They were the first work team coordinators for Operation Classroom in 1987. A celebration of life service for both Loman and Enid, who died September 12, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5th at Riverside UMC, 1201 N. Wheeling Ave., Muncie, Ind. with the Reverend Dr. Steve Cain officiating. Visitation will begin at noon before the service. Survivors include four children, Sharon (Monte) Beaver of Trinidad, Colo., Sylvia McCune (Richard Jurin) of Loveland, Colo., Roger (Bonita) Young of Hartford City, Ind., and John (Missi) Young of Muncie, Ind.; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and many “adopted” children and grandchildren.
