JAMES A. FOWLER, 88, of Evansville, Ind., noted 60-year lay volunteer of the Southwest District and Indiana Conference, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011. His passion for serving others was illustrated by his participation on boards, committees and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, United Methodist Youth Home and Santa Claus Campground. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 SE Third Street in Evansville, Ind. with the Rev. Al Amstutz officiating and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. until at the church. He was married for 58 years to Emilyann (Combs) Fowler, who preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by their five children, Catherine (Dennis) Renner, Diane Fowler, Susan Fowler, Sarah (Mark) Aiton and David (Donna) Fowler; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Aline Pate; three nephews.
