ENID YOUNG of Loveland, Colo., 92, mother of the Rev. John A. Young, pastor of Riverside United Methodist Church in Muncie, Ind. died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Loveland Good Samaritan Retirement Village, 2101 S. Garfield Avenue in Loveland, Colo. A memorial service will be held in Indiana at a later date. Enid and her husband, Loman, were active members of St. Matthew UMC in Frankfort and Trinity UMC in Hartford City before moving to Colorado. She was president of the Lafayette District United Methodist Women, president of the Trinity United Methodist Women for several years, a Girl Scout camp director and director of the Migrant Ministry Day Care at St. Matthew in Frankfort. She painted murals while Loman worked on mission projects from Alaska to Zimbabwe. They participated in several mission work teams with the University of Indianapolis, Kairos Carpenters with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations. They were the first work team coordinators for Operation Classroom in 1987. Survivors include: husband, Loman Young; four children, Sharon (Monte) Beaver of Trinidad, Colo., Sylvia McCune (Richard Jurin) of Loveland, Colo., Roger (Bonita) Young of Hartford City, Ind., John (Missi) Young of Muncie, IN.; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
