JOHN WILLIAM FISCHER, JR., 66, retired pastor of the Indiana Conference, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Visitation will be Friday, April 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. (U.S. Highway 40), Brazil, Ind. 47834. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Centerpoint Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Ruth, three sons: John W. Fischer III, Bruce A. Fischer (Stacie) and Brian F. Fischer; several grandchildren and step grandchildren, to whom he was known as Papoo. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministry PO Box 340007 Nashville, TN 37203. Fischer served congregations at Mt. Pleasant UMC (Terre Haute), Rosedale UMC, Bridgeton UMC, Pimento UMC, Prairie Creek UMC, Cory UMC, Mt. Calvary UMC (Brazil), Peniel UMC and Prairie City.
