Ian Andrew White, 20, son of the Rev. & Mrs. Brian White, superintendent of the Southeast District of the Indiana Conference of Columbus, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Rushville, Ind. Ian was a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the DeBaun-Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, in Terre Haute. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11 at United Methodist Temple UMC, 5301 South US Hwy 41 in Terre Haute, Ind. with Bishop Mike Coyner preaching, and a second memorial service at 3 p.m. at Asbury UMC, 1751 27th Street in Columbus, Ind. with Rev. Dr. Al Styron officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue in Shelbyville, Ind.
Ian was born on Feb. 24, 1990 in Indianapolis. He was a Bloomington, Ind. student and athlete. He graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School in 2008, where he also was a member of the freshman basketball team and was a four-year varsity member of the golf team, participating in the 2008 state finals. He was currently enrolled at ISU majoring in computer information and was a member of Asbury UMC in Columbus, Ind. Ian was a good and caring friend and gifted athlete and he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Survivors include: father, the Rev. Brain White; mother Michelle (Lower) White; sister, Audra White, a Saturday graduate of Ball State University in Muncie; and paternal grandparents, Miriam and Russell White of Jeffersonville, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Ross White. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, in Indiana, Eugene and Eva McCain of Shelbyville, Jerry and Nancy White, Diana and Kenny Hayden, and Donna and Vern Eswine, all of Jeffersonivile area, Teleia Lower of Bloomington, Lynette and Sonny Frazier of Rushville, and Douglas Lower of San Francisco, Calif. and many cousins.
