JOHN FISHER, local civic leader, active United Methodist layman and a formidable presence in the Muncie since the 1940s, died June 28, 2009. He was chairman of Ball Corp. from 1981 to his retirement in 1986. He was active at High Street United Methodist Church, helping oversee the rebuilding of the structure after a 1978 explosion. A memorial service for John Fisher is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at High Street UMC, 219 South High Street.
