SW Outreach and Ministries

Within our 11 county area, below are the ongoing outreach and ministries of our 116 UM Churches for which we are currently aware:


Food Pantries:

Aldersgate UMC, 5130 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47715

Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am - 2pm  Photo ID is required.  Allowed to visit once a month.


Central UMC, 300 Mary Street, Evansville, IN 47710

Open every Monday & Thursday from 9:30am - 11:30am (referral needed) (note:  Also includes a used Clothing and household item store)


Fort Branch / Haubstadt Community Food Bank, The Lord's Pantry

Open every Wednesday from 9:30am - noon.  


Huntingburg UMC, 416 North Main Street, Huntingburg, IN 47542

Food Pantry and shared Ministry called Shared Abundance. through the Christian Ministries on 4th Street.

Food is distributed on Tuesday 1-3pm and Thursday evening 6-7:30pm and the store is open Tues-Thurs. 1-4pm. Thurs night 6-7:30pm, Friday 12:30pm to 4:30pm and Saturday 10:00am to 2:00pm

Loogootee UMC, 208 W Main Street, Loogootee, IN 47553

Food Pantry open from 11am - 1pm Every 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursday of the month.  Contact:  (812) 295-3049


Mount Vernon - River Bend Food Pantry

Located in the former Hedges Central School - enter at Canal Street entrance

Food Distribution:  Monday and Wednesday 9am - Noon; Friday 9am - Noon and 3pm to 6pm

Newburgh UMC, 4178 Hwy 261, Newburgh, IN 47630

Open to Warrick County residents. Can come in once a month. Open on Mondays from 9am - 11am. But closed on Holidays and 5th Mondays of the month.  (Note: includes a clothes closet for gently used clothing)


Oakland City Trinity UMC, 410 S Madison St, Oakland City, IN 47660-1744

Food bank is open every Monday and Friday from 10am - noon


Otwell UMC, 

Food pantry is open every 2nd Sunday of the month from 7am to 2pm EST.  Contact (812) 639-0189.


Patoka UMC Partners with Patoka Presbyterian Church, 207 Grave St, Patoka, IN

Pantry is available to Gibson County Residents by appointment only. Contact June White (812) 779-6991 or Jeff Pinney (812) 766-3344.

St John's UMC, 1900 N Fulton Ave, Evansville, IN 47710

Open every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 9am - 11am.  (Note: includes a clothing pantry)

Discount Groceries Program:

Methodist Temple (Evansville) and Main Street UMC (Boonville) participate in the King Foods program (previously known as Smart Food Choice or Angel Food Ministries) and are places for you to order and pick up your food.  You can learn more about this program and even order online by visiting www.kingfoods.org 

Free Meals:


Bicknell UMC, 309 W 3rd St, Bicknell, IN 47512  - 2nd Sunday every month from 4:30pm - 6pm


Hillside UMC, 828 W Archer Rd, Princeton, IN 47670 - 2nd Monday of every month except June, July, and August



Poseyville St Paul UMC, 46 S Cale Street, Poseyville, IN  - every Thursday from 5pm - 6pm CT


Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714 - 4th Saturday of every month at 11:30am
Fairlawn UMC, 2001 S Parker Drive, Evansville, IN 47714 - 3rd Saturday of every month 4:30 - 6pm

Financial Assistance:

Helping Hands Ministry for Warrick County Residents - limited support for those in crisis.

Newburgh UMC, 4178 Hwy 261, Newburgh, IN 47630 offers assistance under this program for rent and utilities.


Martin County Utility and Rent Assistance

Loogootee UMC, 208 W Main Street - ask for Nancy Whitman. Nancy is the representative for the Salvation Army for Martin County and works in the office at Loogootee UMC.  Hours:  M-F 8am - noon or 1pm - 3pm  She can also be reached by phone at the church office at (812) 295-3049
