Old North UMC - Potato Drop Nov 5th

On November 5th, the Old North UMC Men’s group is sponsoring our 8th  annual “Potato Drop” in the parking lot of Central UMC.  A potato drop is when a semi load of donated potatoes (21 skids/42,000 lbs.) arrives at 6:00 AM from Wisconsin.  By 7:30 AM various food pantries line up with pick-ups and flatbed trailers to receive the donated potatoes.  Even though the potatoes are donated, the Men’s Group sponsors the overhead costs such as fuel costs and lodging, meals, and wages for the driver.

This is coordinated through the St. Andrew’s Society.  They would welcome other churches to become involved with various types of “drops”.
