It's time for all clergy to register for our Clergy Covenant Day on Tuesday, November 11th, at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis.  Actually nearly 500 clergy have registered, so it already looks like we will be having a well-attended day.
What will we be doing on that day? We will gather, worship, consider our covenantal relationship to one another as clergy, share in Holy Communion, hear updates on various issues related to our clergy (Leadership Development opportunities, other learning opportunities, our new Clergy Care Services program, etc.) and we will close the day in a Prayer Service for one another. In addition, there will be opportunity to talk with those clergy who have already submitted a “Willing to Serve” form for election as a delegate to General and Jurisdictional Conference – you will be able to identify those persons because they will have different colored name tags. And of course there will be some displays and vendors present.
Mostly this Clergy Covenant Day is a day of renewal and refreshment. Our clergy expend a lot of energy ministering to others, so those who are designing the day hope our clergy will come and experience receiving ministry.
I woke up at 4 a.m. recently thinking about my sermon to share at Clergy Covenant Day – so I guess it is on my mind.  At 4 a.m. my thoughts seemed pretty inspired and maybe even profound – but I suspect I will need to look again at the notes I made at 4 a.m. to be sure they still make sense in the daylight!  Seriously, I am looking forward to a great day, and I pray that all we say, do, sing, pray and share that day will be a blessing to our clergy.
P.S.  Who should attend? ALL CLERGY – active, retired, elders, deacons, local pastors, student pastors, supply pastors, pastors from other denominations serving our church – ALL CLERGY are invited and welcome to attend.
