The various Spiritual Leadership Teams of our Indiana Conference (Cabinet, Directors, and Bishop’s Team) have been working to develop a statement of the Vision and Values of our Indiana Conference. We have not had an updated statement since the new Indiana Conference was birthed and launched, so those teams have developed a draft for your consideration and feedback. It is listed below, and you will notice that the teams have found it helpful to think of Vision and Values in the context of our Mission and Core Process. You are welcome to give your feedback by replying to this E-pistle. The refined statement will be taken to our Conference Leadership Table for adoption at their meeting on October 26th. Thank you.
Proposed Statement of Vision and Values of the Indiana Conference, July, 2013
MISSION - The Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church will make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world
VISION - We imagine all our congregations working together to reflect the spirit and peace of Christ through increasing the number of disciples engaged in missions locally and globally.
CORE PROCESS - We will discover, develop and deploy effective leaders for vibrant congregations fulfilling the mission of the conference. Effective clergy leaders feel affirmed, equipped, and accountable to the mission. Effective lay leaders live their sense of call to ministry both within and outside the church.
VALUES - We will move our Indiana Conference:
- From maintenance to mission,
- From careers to Christian calling,
- From inward-focused to outward-focused ministry,
- From stagnation to innovation,
- From preference-drive to purpose-centered,
- From competition to collaboration,
- From divisions to connection and
- From saving our institution to proclaiming the Reign of God.
