OPERATION CLASSROOM PACKING PARTY in JULY

The UMC affinity churches supporting Operation Classroom/WPL Brumskine School in Liberia held a Packing Party on Sunday, July 17th at St. Marks United Methodist Church.  We had 38 workers from 7 churches and packed 75 boxes to send to Liberia.  St. Marks UMC was a great host church and their youth group was very helpful.  Liz Rix does a great job coordinating mission efforts at St. Marks.

We packed 106 Elementary YES Kits, 143 High School YES Kits, 34 Health Kits, teacher supplies, library books and bibles.  Lamar Ziegler, Bob Evans and Guy Barger from Emmanuel UMC transported the boxes to Lapel for storage. John Barker keeps the warehouse organized and coordinates shipments to Liberia and Sierra Leone.  A container was shipped to each, Liberia and Sierra Leone, this spring.

We are very short of all YES kits supplies. We continue to need "dual-powered" (solar and battery) calculators, blunt scissors, erasers (pencil-top or hand-held), crayons (24 count) and rulers. Family Dollars often has "dual-powered" calculators, scissors and religious activity/coloring books for $1 each. We appreciate those sewing YES kit bags for our school kits.  We can also use teachers supplies: colored pencils, markers, construction paper, glue, Bible coloring or activity books, dustless chalk, attendance book, etc.
All Health Kit items are needed, especially towels, toothpaste, aspirin and shampoo. Health kits also include nail files or fingernail clippers, a bottle vitamins, light blanket and/or sheet, bath size bar of soap, wash cloth, and toothbrush.
Our next packing party is scheduled on October 23, 2011 at Faith UMC (9031 E 16th St, Indpls, IN 46229).  The packing party generally lasts from 2 - 4 pm on that Sunday afternoon.  Please join us at the party with refreshments provided.

The next 2011 OC packing party for the PWL Brumskine School (Liberia) will be held at Faith UMC on October 23 in the fellowship hall (9031 E 16th St, Indpls, IN 46229), 2-4 pm.
