Roberts Park UMC member celebrates 100th birthday with Reaffirmation of Baptism
In a clear and confident voice, Betty shared her profession of faith and continued to say that she has traveled a path with God for 100 years and is ready to travel forward into new life with Him whenever He calls. She believes her faith has taught her to be loving and gracious to everyone, and she has been inspired throughout her life by her family and her church.
To commemorate this event and honor Betty’s life and witness, Rev. Dr. Scanlan-Holmes also announced the dedication of an engraved traveling baptismal font and consecrated it during the service. Following a congregational response, Betty drew water from the new font and crossed herself as a sign of her reaffirmation. A reception attended by over 200 family members and friends was held in Fellowship Hall following the service.
