District Rallies for the Africa University Campaign – Sept.15 was the first of 10 District Rallies to garner support for the Africa University Campaign approved at this past Indiana Annual Conference Session. The whole list is found on the Conference website (www.inumc.org.AU). Bishop Mike Coyner says, “My involvement with those 10 AU Campaign Rallies will keep me busy this fall. I anticipate those being great events, with a speaker from AU at each, and information to encourage individual and local church pledges to this three-year campaign.”

Gathering of All Clergy – Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Castleton UMC. Bishop Coyner and the Cabinet is asking all clergy to be present to strengthen our Clergy Covenant through worship, dialogue and information about key issues facing clergy (including changes in our pension system, the impact of the Affordable Healthcare Act and new opportunities from Rejuvenate to help our clergy grow their UMPIP funds).

Our Life Together – this retreat for all Indiana United Methodist clergy will be held Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 24-25, 2014, at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis with two outstanding nationally known keynote speakers – Jim Wallis of Sojourners and Mike Slaughter of Ginghamsburg UMC – both of whom will be calling us to move our churches and our ministry outside of our church walls.

Bishop’s Rally for Youth – Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First UMC in Noblesville. This event keeps growing, and this year the rally will have outstanding speakers, music, activities for youth, and time for the youth to dialogue with Bishop Coyner.

Indiana Annual Conference 2014 Session – May 29-31, 2014, at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, with excellent speakers-presenters like Bishop Greg Palmer and Dr. Bob Farr, whose program on church renewal we have adopted and adapted in the Indiana Conference with the “Fruitful Congregation Journey” that so many congregations are finding so helpful.

Wesley Heritage Tour to England – July 23-31, 2014, working with Educational Opportunities (EO), Bishop Coyner is leading a tour to England to visit the sites and learn about the life and ministry of John Wesley and other early Methodist leaders. Those interested in this tour, can go to the EO website at www.EO.travel or contact Indiana Coordinator, Norm Nellis (normgumc@aol.com), for more information and registration.

Africa University Tour – Bishop Coyner has tentatively scheduled with Educational Opportunities to lead a tour to Africa University at Mutare, Zimbabwe in March 2015, to present AU with Indiana’s pledges and gifts from the AU Campaign to establish an endowed Professor of Agriculture and Natural Resources and additional endowed student scholarships.

Holy Land Trip – Bishop Coyner also has tentatively scheduled one final trip to the Holy Land before he retires as bishop in the summer of 2016 for either January or February 2016. He has led several of those trips.
