ATTICA, Ind. – Five years ago, Mary Schott, director of Trees for Tanzania, with other members of First United Methodist Church in Attica, founded a mission project called Trees for Tanzania.
Trees for Tanzania (www.treesfortanzania.com) has produced and given away more than 100,000 tree seedlings in a heavily deforested and extremely poor area of western Tanzania, Africa.
Attica FUMC was the birthplace of this project and an example of the strong mission outreach of The United Methodist Church. Trees for Tanzania has recently challenged itself with the goal of planting one-million trees by the end of 2015.
