INDIANAPOLIS – A First Responder Conference for those helping people with substance and gambling problems will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 13 at the Indiana Conference Center in the Meridian Corporate Plaza Two Buidling (MCP2), First Floor Conference Room at 301 Pennsylvania Parkway in Indianapolis. There is no registration fee.

The conference will offer seven Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the day-long event. When individuals or families are affected by substance or gambling problems, often they first turn to their community of faith.

The goal of the conference is to equip clergy, chaplains, laity, Stephens ministers, parish nurses and health-care team members to respond to these needs. The goal of the conference is to increase awareness of what prevention is, what treatment is, what recovery supports are available, what resources are available to support and provide guidance to those who experience substance or gambling problems, and how to advocate for effective public policy.
