INDIANAPOLIS – The Rev. Dr. Jim Bushfield, director of Connectional Ministries for the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church, announces the employment of Allison Curts of New Albany, Ind., as the new Associate Director of Mission and Social Advocacy, effective July 1.
According to the job description, the purpose of this position is to support and inspire local church lay and clergy leaders to engage in transformational ministry, especially in the areas of mission and advocacy.
This is a less than full-time position that coordinates with the Mission and Social Advocacy teams of the Indiana Conference. This position will not oversee the work of the Indiana Conference Disaster Response Team. Another part-time associate will be hired to oversee that team. Other functions include:
- Networking: Assist team members in using social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and others) and web-based outreach in communicating the activities and causes of their respective areas; and
- Developing a system of recognition to honor local church benevolent giving (“tithe” giving to the annual conference), congregational giving to special offerings and volunteer involvement in mission service.
One of the important goals of this new position is to increase awareness of the effect of giving through conference and general church benevolences, and personal commitment of time and talents.
Upon her employment, Bushfield said, “Allison brings incredible skills to this position, as well as a commitment to the importance of the local church in fulfilling our mission to ‘Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.’”
Curts, is married to the Rev. Peter Curts, who is the associate pastor of Wesley Chapel UMC of Floyd County in New Albany. She may be contacted at 317-924-1321 or by email at email@example.com.
