Indiana Annual Conference Session registration is approaching
The 2013 Annual Conference Session is coming soon, June 6-8. If you haven’t registered, please take time at your earliest convenience to go online and register at www.inumc.org/ac13. Workshops and meals are beginning to reach their limits and some are already sold out. Remember, tickets will only be available through pre-registration. No workshop or meal tickets will be available at the Annual Conference Session. Workshop and meal tickets will not be mailed. Registered members and guests will pick them up when during check-in at the Indiana Convention Center. Online registration will be available until 11:59 p.m. next Thursday, May 23.
These workshops are filled and unavailable to those who have not yet registered:
- Thursday: Cost Stewardship, Living Sermon Illustration, Faith and Creation Care
- Friday: Being Transformed Through Prayer, Culturally Relevant Ministry, Changing the World through Social Media
Remember, “The 5 Essentials of TEAM” workshop by Mark Beeson of Granger Community UMC has no limit since it will be held in the Worship Center.
NEW WORKSHOP OFFERING
Upper Room Ministries editor-publisher to offer World Changing Prayer workshop
Sarah Wilke, world editor and publisher of Upper Room Ministries (an ecumenical organization and ministry of the General Board of Discipleship), will return to the Indiana Annual Conference this year. This time she will offer a workshop not yet listed titled “World Changing Prayer.” The Upper Room devotional guide is published in 44 languages. Each month there are more than 30,000 prayer calls to the Upper Room Prayer line. This workshop will tell the stories of world changing prayer and ministry. Upper Room is currently celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Spanish language edition with a brief video of how Anglo churches are using the Upper Room Spanish language edition to reach out to their neighbors. The workshop will be offered at 10:15 a.m. Friday, June 7 in the Indiana Convention Center. The Upper Room devotional guide is published in 44 languages. Indiana Conference and Community Prayer Breakfast on Saturday to feature Senator Lugar
All Hoosier United Methodists and guests are invited to the Indiana Conference and Community Prayer Breakfast Saturday, June 8 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol at Georgia Street in downtown Indianapolis. Following the theme of the 2013 Annual Conference, “Be a World Changer,” the prayer breakfast will focus on how changing the world begins with prayer. Bishop Mike Coyner will welcome former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar as the keynote speaker. Lugar will speak about how we, as Indiana United Methodists, can be in prayer for the world. We will pray for the needs of our communities, state, nation, and world that through our prayers and actions we may change the world. Warm welcome from children of Indiana to greet Annual Conference members
INDIANAPOLIS – One of a kind, picture greeting cards will welcome Indiana Annual Conference members. The cards come from children of United Methodist churches across the state and will be placed in the annual conference packets that will be distributed during member check in at the Indiana Convention Center. The Indiana Conference Implementation Team thanks both the children and the volunteers from United Methodist churches statewide who sent the cards for distribution.
Worship Leaders Day to be held Friday afternoon during Annual Conference
INDIANAPOLIS – A unique Worship Leaders Day is being planned to be held during the Indiana Annual Conference Session on Friday, June 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Indiana Convention Center Breakout Rooms just beyond the east entrance on South Capitol Avenue at Georgia Street in downtown Indianapolis. The workshop will be limited to 100 participants. This workshop session will be held during the Friday afternoon plenary session across the hall. The Worship Leaders Day is a workshop designed to celebrate, educate and motivate worship leaders, music directors and worship musicians throughout the state of Indiana, that are not members of the annual conference session. David Santistevan will lead the workshop hosted by the Indiana Annual Conference Worship Design Team, Marion Miller, along with Greg Graham and Brian Frame. Invite your worship leaders and music directors, musicians to include Keyboardists, drummers and guitarist and other key audiences such as lead vocalists. The registration fee is $50. Registration is through the Indiana Annual Conference Session registration at www.inumc.org/ac13.
Friends of Africa University to feature choir member at annual conference breakfast
While the Africa University Choir is in Indiana for Annual Conference this year, they will be participating in the Friends of Africa University breakfast on Friday morning, June 7 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. One of their members will speak about his/her experiences on campus and the education being received there. Credit Union to gather for annual meeting, lunch during annual conference session
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana United Methodist Federal Credit Union (www.iumfcu.org) will hold its annual meeting Thursday, June 6 at noon at the RAM Restaurant, 40 S. Illinois Street in downtown Indianapolis, one block east of the Indiana Convention Center Georgia Street entrance (www.theram.com). The meeting usually lasts from 60 to 90 minutes. IUMFCU chose this meeting time for the convenience of those attending annual conference. Anyone who is a member or interested in being a member of the Credit Union is invited to the IUMFCU Annual Meeting. The only cost the meal, which will be selected from the restaurant’s menu. Reservations need to be called in to Marla Geiger at 765-864-9000. The IUMFCU is located at 4047 S. Webster Street in Kokomo.
Plan now for the Power and Praise Night Out with the Indiana Fever WNBA Basketball Team
INDIANAPOLIS – The WNBA champion Indiana Fever are playing Saturday, June 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis against the Phoenix Mercury. The Africa University choir plans to sing in the fieldhouse lobby following the game. Tickets to the game are $20 each and include:

Partnering with TRANSFORMission event, UMW in need of snack foods for VBS groups
United Methodist Women of Indiana are partnering with youth around Indiana for their conference-wide TRANSFORMission event July 7-14 when 500 youth will be involved in mission in the Indianapolis area projects for kids. One of the many activities planned is Vacation Bible School in area parks where 100 kids will participate daily. UMW members are asked to donate healthy snacks for VBS. Will you, your local unit, and/or church please help make this a reality? Individually wrapped snacks may be brought to the United Methodist Women of Indiana display during Annual Conference. Suggested items include:

- Fruit Roll-Ups
- Individually packed snack crackers
- Individually packed goldfish

Free portraits being taken during the annual conference session
Lifetouch Directories will be taking portraits for the new Lay Member and Clergy directory during Annual Conference in Room 232. Each person having an individual portrait taken will receive a complimentary 8 x 10 inch print and a copy of the directory.
