The Indiana United Methodist Conference Commission on Archives and History announces two individuals have been selected for recognition as a local church Historian of the Year.

Edith Smith has been the church historian for Wayside United Methodist Church in Clinton, Ind., for many years, and has devoted lots of time volunteering to go through and sort out the records of multiple predecessor congregations.

Dr. Jan Shipps of First United Methodist Church in Bloomington is a professional historian and brings sensibility to her work for her local church. Both have taken advantage of the resources available through the Indiana Conference archives, located at DePauw University in Greencastle.
