INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner announced today, Jan. 16, a change in the position of Director of Church Development for the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church effective Feb. 1. This change was prompted by the retirement of the Rev. Mark Gough of Fort Wayne, current Director of Church Development. Gough will use vacation time the rest of January. The Rev. Douglas T. Anderson of Muncie, currently a part-time member of the Church Development staff, will serve as Interim Director of Church Development until the Indiana Annual Conference session in June.

In response to Gough’s retirement, Coyner said, “Mark has served faithfully in the Indiana area for 36 years, and his leadership has brought a great deal of momentum in both starting new congregations and revitalizing existing congregations through the Fruitful Congregation Journey. I believe that the Church Development staff will continue that momentum which is so vital to our Indiana Conference. I have personally expressed to Mark my appreciation for his ministry and my best wishes for his transition.”

Other members of the Church Development team include Associate Directors: Steve Clouse of Delphi, Ed Fenstermacher of Fort Wayne, the Rev. David Neckers of Muncie, Sergio Reyes of Fort Wayne and Sharon Washington of Jeffersonville. For more information about Church Development and the Fruitful Congregation Journey program, click here.
