The youth at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (at the corner of Vance Avenue and Reed Road in Fort Wayne) were excited to sponsor a day for Kids Against Hunger! Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, with more than 100 volunteers, they prepared more than 42,000 packets of food. Each packet is a complete meal for a family of six. Each meal costs only 25¢ and they are committed to raise the $10,000-plus needed for this amazing program. These meals will be distributed here in Fort Wayne as well as in Sierra Leone, Africa, and other parts of the world. Here is a short paragraph from the Kids Against Hunger website explaining a little about this special organization: The mission of Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization, is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. Kids Against Hunger is not affiliated with or restricted to a particular religious group and does not discriminate on any basis when distributing its meals.
