LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LPTS) – Pastor Ann Thomas of Central Barren United Methodist Church in New Salisbury, Ind. (South District) and student at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, received the E.L. Bell Memorial Prize for excellence in biblical studies during the first years of seminary studies.
She was recently awarded the prize during the seminary’s fall convocation service. It is the first time in memory that a United Methodist student has won this prize. As you may know, one-third of our Master of Divinity curriculum is devoted to biblical studies, including a year of study in Hebrew and Old Testament study and another year of study in Greek and the New Testament.
Dianne Reistroffer, professor of ministry and director of field education and Methodist studies said, “John Wesley, who prided himself as the ‘man of the one book,” would be proud.
According to Reistroffer, Thomas has excelled in all phases of her education at Louisville Seminary and this is another indication of her gifts and graces for ministry.
