The Indiana Conference Board of Laity is again offering the opportunity for all laity of the Indiana Conference to express thanks and praise to God by submitting an original sermon manuscript for judging. The theme for this year is “Making Room” (Acts 2, Verses 46-47) following the theme of the 2012 Annual Conference session.
This year there are two categories, youth and young adults (ages 14 through 29) and adults (age thirty and older). One winning manuscript will be presented at the laity luncheon on Thursday, June 7. The other winning manuscript will be presented at the Laity Session the afternoon of June 7. Both presentations will be at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.
Due to the full agenda of the laity events, it is necessary that the manuscript be no more than 15 minutes in length. Entries are judged based on creative and original development of the theme, but may be eliminated due to length.
Manuscripts need to be mailed to Ike Williams, Indiana Conference Co-Lay Leader at 1515 Cool Creek Drive, Carmel, IN 46033-2318 or sent by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The manuscript must be accompanied by a cover sheet or letter that includes the writer’s name, address, phone number, e-mail address, local church name and district, as well as indicating in which category the entry is being submitted.
Please do not include any personally identifying information in the manuscript since each will be assigned a number and judged anonymously. All manuscripts must be received by Monday, May 7. The winners will be notified by May 21.
Information concerning the contest can be obtained by contacting Bob Pimlott, Southeast District Lay Leader, at email@example.com or 812-273-3081.
