1 Timothy 6:18-19 is the scriptural reference for the Rev. Derek Weber’s theme “Living a Life that is a Life: Living God’s Abundance in an Age of Scarcity.” Weber, an Indiana Conference pastor, will lead the United Methodist Women of Indiana’s Spiritual Retreat January 19-20 at Canyon Inn in McCormick’s Creek State Park. He is well known to United Methodist Women of Indiana as he has led numerous spiritual growth studies at Schools of Christian Mission. United Methodist Women’s PURPOSE challenges its members to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ. In keeping that charge, in addition to January dates, one other spiritual retreat and two guided silent retreats are planned for 2012 by the UMW of Indiana. They are:

  • Spiritual Retreat, March 2-3, Friday and Saturday, at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster, Ind.
  • Two guided silent retreats:
  • March 2-4, Friday-Sunday, Vickie Newkirk is the facilitator at Sarto House in Evansville, Ind.
  • May 18-20, Friday-Sunday, Pat Payne is the facilitator at St. Joseph Retreat Center in Tipton, Ind. This event offers an optional extra day of personal silence starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17.
