INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner has appointed the Rev. Rob Fuquay, senior pastor of the 2,000-member Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville, N.C., as the new senior pastor at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis effective Sept. 1.
Prior to this appointment, Fuquay served three other United Methodist congregations at Lake Junaluska, Charlotte and Canton, all in North Carolina. He received a M.Div. degree from Candler School of Theology in 1987. His wife, Susan, is the daughter of U.M. Bishop Richard Wilke. They have three teenage children.
Upon his appointment, Bishop Coyner said, “I am very pleased the Rev. Fuquay has accepted this appointment. I have met with him personally and have reviewed his career and credentials with his current bishop in North Carolina. I am convinced God has led us through this process to the right person to be the next senior pastor of St. Luke’s.”
Bishop Mike Coyner appointed the Rev. Dr. Linda McCoy, pastor of The Garden and an associate pastor at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis since 1982, interim senior pastor of St. Luke’s UMC effective July 1. St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis is Indiana’s largest United Methodist congregation with more than 6,200 members.
