There are more than 300 United Methodist missionaries serving in 60 countries. They are working as educators, agriculturalists, health coordinators, and doctors. They are working in churches to develop new leaders and they are on the frontline when disaster occurs, partnering with UMCOR on the ground. There were missionaries in Japan and Haiti when disaster struck and they are now working every day to help rebuild these countries.

Go to this Tuesday, May 10, throughout the day, to hear four missionaries share stories about the work they are doing around the world. There will be a live update at 12 noon EDT, so you can ask questions or chat throughout the day with others who are interested in this project.

During the day you will hear from:

  • Lisa Maupin, Church and Community Worker with United Methodist Ministries in the Nebraska Annual Conference
  • Lourdes Magalhaes, National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministries missionary in the New Jersey Annual Conference, serving a Brazilian congregation in Harrison
  • Ken Cruz, missionary serving with Community Health and Agriculture Development (CHAD) in Cambodia
  • Krista Givens, missionary serving as pastor of the International United Methodist Church in Hamburg, German

UMC missionaries are sponsored by the General Board of Global Ministries and supported by dollars raised through The Advance.

And don’t forget, while visiting, with one simple click, you can become an advocate of missionaries and automatically raise $1 to support this project. Mission never stops. Be counted when you visit.

On the 10th of each month, will feature a different Advance project and we will hear from people closely involved who will report on the progress that is being made around the world. Check back regularly to learn more. Thank you for your continued support.
