Celebrates growth in reaching youth

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. – That Thing high school camp at the Indiana Conference-owned Epworth Forest Conference Center is currently sold out for the first two weeks of the camping season. Only two lodges remain for the third week. With 31 of 33 available lodges sold, Epworth Forest is expecting a 24 percent growth in reaching youth for Christ this summer.

That’s a 9.5 percent growth made possible only through the construction of Duecker Lodge. This additional lodging has increased the camp’s capacity by an additional 84 youths and 12 adults this summer. Epworth Forest thanks Hoosier United Methodists for their support.

In addition, 64 youths and eight adults will experience these improved facilities during Royal Family Kids Camp and Camp REYOAD. This improvement is only made possible through the generous support of donors to the Conference Center’s Right Future Campaign, which everything it takes to reach future generations for Jesus Christ.

Epworth Forest invites all to join them at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at Epworth Forest Conference Center for the Opening Ceremony of Bishop Sheldon and Marjorie Duecker Lodge. Duecker Lodge is the first of four small waterfront lodges that are part of The Right Future Campaign. Light refreshments will be served as Hoosier United Methodists honor Bishop Sheldon and Marjorie Duecker, along with a dedication of the lodge by Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner.

The lodge will be open for touring, Beach House will be open for fun and site tours will be available for exploring. The Epworth Forest staff looks forward to celebrating this grand opening with Hoosier United Methodists, who are enabling 84 additional youth to encounter Christ this summer and thousands more for generations to come.

As of early March, a total of $62,213 has been raised towards the construction of the second small waterfront lodge named Fenstermacher Lodge. The lodge’s foundation has been laid, but an additional $321,000 is still needed to begin full construction of the lodge.
