INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Bishop Mike Coyner announces the appointment of the Rev. Katurah W. Johnson, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Gary, as one-fourth-time Associate Superintendent of the North District effective Wednesday, March 16. She will continue to serve three-fourth-times at Christ Church.

She will be serving in this new capacity with the Rev. Cindy Reynolds, superintendent of the North District based in LaPorte, Ind. According to Reynolds, Johnson will be the third associate superintendent in the North District. She will join the team and focus on being a pastor to pastors, church development and strengthening ministry clusters.

Katurah, 56, is an Elder of the Indiana Conference. She has served Christ UMC since 2007. Prior to her current appointment, she served churches in Muncie at College Avenue 1996-1998, College Avenue and Elkhart Bethel UMC 1999 and Bethel UMC 2000-2007.

Johnson received her M.Div. degree concentrating in Biblical Studies from Gammon Theological Seminary at Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Ga. She holds a B.A. in Journalism from Georgia State University. She is the mother of an adult daughter, Kachael Johnson.
