Hoosier missionary to speak about Mission Guatemala in Indy Feb. 20
The Rev. Tom Heaton, director of Mission Guatemala, told Together the mission’s preschool and feeding program opened the end of January.
He said, “We have 38 children now but expect about 50 by the end of February. That will put us at our current capacity. These are the poorest children in the area that have been prescreened by social workers with our partner organization Mayan Families.” Given the cold and frozen day there, I thought the slide show/video I did might brighten your day.
Heaton will return to Indiana later this month. Take advantage of a special opportunity to learn about Mission Guatemala, a United Methodist-related ministry that supports families who are living in extreme poverty in San Andrés, Guatemala.
Meet and hear Heaton share his experiences Sunday, Feb. 20, at Castleton UMC (71th and N. Shadeland) in Indianapolis during three morning services (8:30, 9:40 and 11:00 a.m.). Heaton also will share pictures and stories about his work at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Sunrise Campus, which is located at 75th and Oaklandon in Fishers.
Heaton is a United Methodist pastor of the Indiana Conference. For more information, contact the church office at 317-849-2947 or visit www.castletonumc.org.
