NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. – Thanks to the vision and support of more than 200 donors, Duecker Lodge will be available for camp use and retreat rental starting this June 2011 to accommodate the growing programs at Epworth Forest Conference Center. We celebrate this first new building to be constructed at Epworth Forest since 1964! Duecker Lodge honors the life and work of Bishop Sheldon & Marjorie Duecker through the generous contributions of Rick and Vicki James.
Three additional small waterfront lodges and two large waterfront lodges are planned for construction and will follow the model set forth with Duecker Lodge. The following features will be included in Duecker Lodge so that, together, we may provide a place for lives to be transformed by Christ for generations to come:
- 3,400 Total Sq. Ft.
- Air Conditioning
- Four bedrooms (approx. 22’ x 19’ each)
- Three sets of bunk beds per room
- One private shower per room
- One private restroom per room
- Two sinks per room
- Nestled on the Lake
- Spacious outdoor deck with Furniture
- Fully equipped kitchen (approx. 15’ x 15’)
- Spacious main room (approx. 31’ x 47’)
- Vaulted ceiling in main room
- Large gas log fireplace
- Wooden Beam Architecture
Duecker Lodge is currently sold out for That Thing high school camp this summer. That Thing, a program developed by Impact 2818, was created in 2009 to transition the high school camp focus, which had lost hefty attendance numbers from early 2001-2008. The new program has not only curbed the attendance issues, but is growing (by 11% in 2010) and is focused on developing missional students who live outward and expressive lives for Jesus Christ. A total of 831 spots have been sold for That Thing so far and remaining space is limited. Of the total 13 lodges available each week, including Duecker Lodge, two lodges remain for Week 1, one lodge remains for Week 2, and six lodges remain for Week 3. In the summer of 2010, Epworth Forest Conference Center housed a total of 1,408 campers and adults through Camp REYOAD, Royal Family Kids’ Camp, and That Thing.

More than $2 million has been raised to date, but an additional $6 million is needed to see this vision through to reality. Visit www.rightfuture.org to view weekly photos of the construction site and to make a donation that will transform lives for generations to come. To learn more about how you may partner with us to reach future generations for Christ, please contact Alexis Hyndman, development manager, at 574-834-2212 ext. 1010 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

This year’s theme is “Living Jesus.” Each session, devotion and community time will help students unpack their relationship with a living God, while uncovering a new depth to Christ guiding their lives. “Living to know God, dying to make Him known,” challenges our internal relationship with God and our outward expression and opportunity in that relationship. Ministry opportunity opens as summer camping hires staff
Each year the combined seven sites of Impact 2818 Outdoor Ministries hire nearly a hundred staff members that are critical components to the ministry, which happens each summer. Camping leaders are currently accepting applications for ideal candidates with a passion for sharing Christ to all our guests, a heart to serve, adaptable skill sets and a team player attitude.
Positions include adventure program specialists (water safety, ropes, paintball, crafts, etc.), tech-focused staff (lighting, sound, video, social journalist, etc.), kitchen staff helping to feed our guests and more!
Being a camp staff is a great opportunity for young adults considering vocational ministry. It helps people explore their passions and skills, while focusing a summer on growing and serving God. To apply or guide others to apply, go to www.beacamper.com/theteam.html.
