The North Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Men is leading a “Tool Relief Project: Haiti 2010.” This includes the United Methodist Men (UMM) organizations for nine states including: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa.
This project is time sensitive. The tools will not ship until the appropriate time. The goal is to provide new and used hand tools (including shovels, rakes, hammers, mortar-concrete tools, hand saws, wheel barrows, nail bars, wrecking bars, new nails and any manual hand tool) to the people of Haiti. UMM hopes to collect hand tools and enough money to ship and distribute them to individuals in Haiti. Use the structure of the North Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Men for this effort.
In addition to the tools, UMM asks that a dollar bill be attached to each tool critical for transportation and distribution costs. The tools will be collected by each annual conference, including the UMM of the Indiana Conference. The tools will be housed and shipped from the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in just south of Springfield, Ill. The tools will be crated and prepared for shipment by the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, Sangamon River District UMM.
Churches need to collect hand tools and then gather tools as a district prior to shipping to Indianapolis. Contact your UMM District President for additional instructions or Indiana Conference UMM president David Martin at 317-414-4120 or email@example.com.
