Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis is part of Clarian Health.
"As a ministry partner with the Indiana Conference (of The United Methodist Church), we are pleased to extend our discount practice.”
INDIANAPOLIS – Clarian Health announced earlier this month that the hospital bill discount practice in place for its downtown Methodist, Indiana University and Riley hospitals since 1997 will be extended to all Clarian hospitals statewide.
In a letter to United Methodist leaders dated Nov. 2, Clarian’s Daniel F. Evans, Jr., president and CEO and the Rev. Steven S. Ivy, Ph.D. senior vice president of Values, Ethics, Social Responsibility and Pastoral Services, said, “This change recognizes the growing Clarian system throughout Indiana and the fact that the entire Clarian Health system is a Connectional Unit of the Indiana Conference. As a ministry partner with the Indiana Conference (of The United Methodist Church), we are pleased to extend our discount practice.”
Upon hearing this announcement, Bishop Mike Coyner, also a member of the Clarian board, said, “We are grateful to Clarian for this generous offer to expand the clergy discount throughout their system. This is one of the benefits of being a new state-wide Indiana Conference and having a mission partnership with Clarian.
This means that Clarian will waive any co-pays owed to Clarian after the Indiana Conference HealthFlex insurance plan has paid its portion of the patient’s bill and the patient has met his or her deductible. This courtesy discount applies only to hospital charges, not physician charges or contracted services such as some laboratory expenses.
Brent Williams, director of administrative services for the new Indiana Conference, said,”On behalf of the Indiana Conference Board of Pension and Benefits and our participants, we are truly grateful for the Clarian Board’s generosity. Our Clarian partners provide professional excellence in health care and we will be blessed by their services and financial assistance. All our participants need do is provide their HealthFlex ID Card upon admission and Clarian will adjust the billing before it is sent for payment.”
This discount is available only to those who are covered by the Conference-sponsored health insurance plan. It will apply to charges accrued beginning Dec. 1.
Clarian hospitals include: Methodist Indianapolis, IU Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, Clarian West Medical Center, Clarian North Medical Center, Clarian Arnett Hospital, Ball Memorial Hospital, Blackford Community Hospital, LaPorte Regional Health, Starke Community Hospital, Goshen Health, Tipton Hospital, and Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Bloomington Hospital and Bloomington Hospital of Orange County may integrate with the Clarian system after Jan. 1; if so, then they too will be included in this agreement.
If you have questions about this plan, please call Ivy or his assistant, Rosemarie Pavy, at 317-962-3591.
Ivy told Together, “If you receive services at one of our hospitals and your bill does not reflect this discount after your insurance has paid and you have met your deductible, then please call Tern Woods-Love, Customer Service Supervisor, at 317-962-8221 or FAX 317-968-1040.
“We are grateful to be your partners in the ministries of the Indiana Conference. May God continue to bless your service.”
