BISHOP OLE E. BORGEN, 83, former United Methodist bishop of the Northern Europe Central Conference and former president of the Council of Bishops, died March 24, 2009 at Lillestrom, Norway. A memorial service was held April 2 near Lillestrom. In 1970 he was appointed as secretary and leader of the World Methodist Council's office in Geneva, Switzerland. In September the same year he was elected bishop of the Northern Europe Central Conference. After having served during 19 years as an active bishop he retired in 1989. Between 1989 and 1992 he gave lectures as professor at Asbury Theological Seminary.

ERIC WADE BUTTERY, 21, son of Wendy Buttery-Canon part-time local pastor of Economy and Greens Fork UMCs in the Rushville District (former SIC), died March 21, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. MARTHA LOUISE CARLTON of Bloomington, widow of the late Rev. Samuel E. Carlton, Elder (former NIC) and mother-in-law to the Rev.
