INDIANAPOLIS (UIndy) - This year's commencement exercises at the United Methodist-related University of Indianapolis will be May 1 and 2, with speakers including a top business and community leader and the bishop of the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Bishop Michael J. Coyner will deliver the address at UIndy's graduate programs commencement, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, in Nicoson Hall. Honorary degrees will be presented to Coyner, who serves on the university's Board of Trustees, and also to Richard Heitzenrater, the William Kellon Quick Professor of Church History and Wesley Studies at Duke University.

UIndy alumnus Jerry Throgmartin, CEO of electronics retailer HHGregg, will speak at the undergraduate programs commencement, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in Nicoson Hall. Honorary degrees will be presented to Throgmartin, a university trustee and to two other alumni: university trustee Richard E. Stierwalt, president and CEO of Associated Third Party Administrators, one of the nation's largest pension funds, and Gabriella Calini-Petzetaki, founder and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greece.
