DAYTON, Ind. - Conference Hispanic/Latino Ministries Team and Lafayette District Hispanic/Latino Committee is presenting a workshop called "Present Ministry with Hispanic/Latinos" on Saturday, June 13 at Dayton United Methodist Church (near Lafayette).
This workshop is specially designed for non-Hispanic United Methodist churches in the Indiana Conference. The focus is to help churches find practical ways to begin ministries with the growing Hispanic/Latino community around them.
Leader Rev. Melanie Carey, senior pastor of First UMC in Ypsilanti, Mich. Carey has firsthand experience leading an Anglo church in developing ministries with Hispanics. She also is a national consultant for the UMC.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m., with opening worship at 10 a.m. The workshop ends at 4 p.m.
The workshop will cover: Assessing mission field opportunities, discerning how to respond, developing an action plan and next steps.
Cost is $20 per church for 1-3 persons; $5 for each additional person. Cost is $20 per person for those registering after June 4.
