United Methodist-related Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill, recently announced the appointment of the Rev. G. Edward Alley as Development Associate for South Indiana. This part-time position is designed to help Garrett-Evangelical keep alums and friends informed about the seminary's mission, the challenges it faces in training the next generation of church leaders and the partnership role alums and friends can play in helping prepare leaders for the church. Alley will be listening to and inviting feedback from church leaders, graduates, and laity in order to assist Garrett-Evangelical in enhancing its curriculum and learning opportunities for students and congregations.

Alley, a 1961 graduate of Garrett-Evangelical, spent 15 years in parish ministry, both in North and South Indiana Conference. He was Executive Director of Raines Pastoral Counseling Center before establishing Kairos Center for the Family with his wife, Susan W. Alley. They worked together in Kairos for the past 21 years.

In other news, the Rev. Bruce Naylor, a 1974 graduate of G-ETS and a retired member of the South Indiana Conference, also will continue working as a Development Associate as he has since January 2007. He will focus on working with alums, congregations, and friends of the seminary in North Indiana from his new residence in Mishawaka.
