Stillness, Awareness, and Playfulness” is the theme of the 2015 Our Life Together retreat for Indiana Conference pastors set Monday-Tuesday, February 23-24, 2015 at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis.
OLT is a gathering of clergy to cultivate the covenant, experience a community of learning, and this year experience an atmosphere of playfulness.
The retreat will begin Monday morning with a lively opening worship and conclude on Tuesday afternoon with worship and reflection. The featured speaker for the event is author, speaker and teacher, the Rev. Dr. Kirk Byron Jones.
Jones has been a pastor for more than thirty years and is the founding minister of Beacon Light Baptist Church in New Orleans. He is an adjunct professor of ethics, preaching, and pastoral ministry at Andover Newton Theological School, New Centre, Mass. and serves as a guest preacher and teacher at churches, schools and conferences across the country. He has written more than 10 books including Fulfilled: Living and Leading with Unusual Wisdom, Peace and, Joy.
The two-day retreat will also include messages from Bishop Coyner, as well as opportunities to learn, grow and play together. Workshop options include time for Covenant Groups, Hymn Singing, Basketball with the Bishop, Windows on God: Photography, Labyrinth Walks, Prayer, and more.
The event will also feature a Fun Night for clergy at Dave and Busters Monday, February 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Advance registration is required for a fee of $25 and includes a buffet meal with beverages and $10 power play card. This is the time to enjoy yourself and give yourself permission to relax, renew, play and laugh with colleagues and friends. Cost for the event is $65 per person (plus $25 for optional Monday night at Dave and Busters and the deadline for registration is Sunday, February 15.
