Youth and sponsor from Fort Wayne and Gas City sorted donated food and clothing at Fletcher Place Community Center during TransforMission 2014 in Indianapolis.
INDIANAPOLIS – Nearly 100 youth and their counselors from across Indiana spent the week of July 20-26 in Indianapolis participating in TransforMission, an annual mission outreach sponsored by the Indiana Conference.
They were based at Butler University Sunday through Saturday and worked at more than a dozen sites throughout the city. Some of the locations they worked at Monday through Friday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) have included Lawrence UMC, Fletcher Place Community Center, The Caring Place, Servants at Work Wheelchair Ramp Projects, Eagle Creek Salvation Army, Exodus Refugee Immigration, Old Bethel Food Pantry, Brightwood Community Center, Wheeler Mission Thrift Store, Soups On at Roberts Park UMC and VBS at Fifth Street UMC in Anderson.
Each day they had a specific theme as youth not only to serve in the community, but also to reflect how their faith plays an important role in helping others.
Bishop Mike Coyner helped kick-off the event by speaking during opening worship at Butler Sunday night July 20.
